NPRR537  ERS Clearing Price

Rejected sponsor DSWG posted 2013-04-19 ercot.com
ReasonA market clearing price mechanism will provide for more efficient market outcomes than pay-as-bid. ERCOT has authority under P.U.C. Subst. R. 25.507(e)(1) to implement a market clearing price mechanism. As stated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) in its order adopting amendments to PUC Subst. R. 25.507, "The concept of establishing a market clearing price mechanism would appear to have the potential for solving some problems that exist in establishing prices for the service, and the commission encourages ERCOT staff to expeditiously explore the feasibility of implementing such a mechanism."
