NPRR524 Resource Limits in Providing Ancillary Service
ReasonMany Generation Resources in the ERCOT Region have identified opportunities to produce additional energy above their traditional High Sustained Limit (HSL) by using various types of supplemental MW enhancements. While the Generation Resource continues to provide frequency response when operating between the Low Sustained Limit (LSL) and the traditional HSL, the new supplemental capacity above the traditional HSL may or may not be frequency responsive at all times.

Summary
This Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) will clarify and allow Generation Resources with supplemental capacity that is not always frequency responsive to provide the supplemental capacity to the market and also continue to participate in the Responsive Reserve (RRS) Service market.
